Passengers on a suburban Philadelphia train sat idle and did nothing to stop a fellow passenger from being raped right before them.
The police superintendent said this incident speaks to where we are in society; selfish! Surveillance video captures a woman being sexually assaulted and raped while fellow commuters, without a single person intervening or even anonymously calling 911.
An employee of South Eastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority phoned police saying that something wasn't right with one of the women aboard the trains. The police department responded to the terminal, and the woman was transported to the hospital thereafter.
The victim detailed the rape by a man she didn't know, which led police to 35-year-old Fiston Ngoy who was well known by both the authorities and transit system for multiple crimes including rape and aggravated assault.
The Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt called the victim an "unbelievably strong woman" who provided authorities with a lot of information. He went on to say, somebody should have done something.
"I'm shocked, I have no words for it. I just can't imagine seeing what you were seeing through your own eyes and seeing what this woman was going through that no one would step in and help her." #Truthbomber
