Rita Moreno Backpedals to Please Cancel Culture

Legendary Oscar-winner Rita Moreno was sharply criticized for defending Lin- Manuel Miranda who has been accused of “colorism” for not having more diverse-looking Latino characters in his movie “In the Heights.”

As we reported, “In the Heights” is a movie celebrating Latin culture and featuring a predominantly Latin cast, but has come under fire because their Latinos aren’t deemed dark enough.

On Tuesday, Moreno appeared on Stephen Colbert’s talk show to promote her new book, saying "Can we talk for a second about that criticism about Lin-Manuel? That really upsets me.”

Moreno, who became a household name after playing Maria in “West Side Story,” continued by saying, “This is the man who literally has brought Latino-ness and Puerto Rican-ness to America. I couldn't do it. I would love to say I did, but I couldn't. Lin-Manuel has done that really singlehandedly, and I'm thrilled.

Lin-Manuel Miranda and Rita Moreno have a prior relationship as he served as producer for her documentary. "And I'm proud that he produced my documentary," she added.

Colbert kept the conversation going by trying to insight the legend. "So are you saying that while you may understand where people's concerns come from, that perhaps it's misplaced in criticizing him in this?"

Colbert’s insistence led Moreno to do something shocking in Hollywood. She stuck to her convictions. Not surprisingly she was ripped apart for having a pragmatic, thoughtful mindset, and for not turning on her friend and calling him a racist just to satisfy the woke police.

But guess what? That backbone didn't last for long. Moreno ultimately caved under pressure (no doubt scared of her own cancellation) finally saying she's "incredibly disappointed" in herself for not sticking up more for the representation of Afro-Latinos during her Colbert interview.

"In addition to applauding Lin for his wonderful movie version of In the Heights, let me add my appreciation for his sensitivity and resolve to be more inclusive of the Afro-Latino community going forward," she said referring to Lin- Manuel Miranda's groveling apology to the liberal lunatics who set to crucify him.

Rita finished off by adding, "See, you CAN teach this old dog new tricks." Personally, I wouldn't have chosen the dog analogy. Dogs are smart and loyal. You, Rita, are just another actor afraid of speaking the truth, not even loyal to your thoughts. #Truthbomber
