Age Hypocrisy in Hollywood

Recently “Real Housewives” star Kyle Richards called Scott Disick “too damn old” to date Amelia Gray Hamlin, the 19-year-old model daughter of fellow costars Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin. Disick, 37, who is best known as Kourtney Kardashian’s baby daddy, previously had a relationship with Lionel Richie’s 22-year-old daughter Sofia, which equally raised some extremely well-Botoxed brows.

I find it interesting how Disick’s age makes him border on creepy in their eyes, while NOBODY in Hollywood ever seems to comment on the fact Hugh Jackman’s wife is 13 years older than him and literally looks like his mother. Lisa Bonet is 12 years the senior to her hunky husband Jason Mamoa, Priyanka Chopra has 10 years on hubby Nick Jonas, and Kourtney Kardashian, Scott's ex, is already in her 40's.

I’m all about age equality. In fact, I’m the cougar in my marriage and damn proud of it! But Hollywood has a serious hypocrisy problem when it comes to age and gender. On the one hand, they say men and women should be equal, but on the other hand, they think men dating younger women is predatorial, while a woman dating a younger man is plain sweet.

The problem I see is that Hollywood and liberal society are sending young girl’s a mixed message. They are saying, “Ladies, feel empowered and dream big” but also “make sure you date your age, vote Democrat, hate cops, and look at every single male as a potential sex offender.” Call me crazy, but that sounds like the opposite of equality and free will. Nobody is telling young men, “Beware of the older women at the bar… they are going to destroy your lives.”

We live in a culture of fear that is being perpetuated by a society that keeps telling women that everyone and everything is out to get them, but guess what, we are smarter than you think. We can decide for ourselves who to date, who to vote for, and who the real enemy is. #Truthbomber
